Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged Ghanaians to emulate the composure, discipline and dedication to service exemplified by the late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Naser Toure Mahama, as a way of improving the lives of their constituents.

She made the call while delivering a tribute at funeral rites held in honour of the late lawmaker at the National Mosque in Accra on Sunday, January 11.

According to the Vice President, Hon. Naser Toure Mahama’s life and service offer important lessons in leadership, humility, and compassion, which should guide public servants and citizens alike.

“We would like at all times to talk and celebrate the things that make us happy. We all know that life is not all about us. Sometimes it is about the things that make us unhappy.

“We have learned of his composure, the kind of composure that allows for clear thinking and advice that works. We have learned of this compassion, his sense of focus, his discipline, his generosity, sharing the thinking of others, not putting himself first.

“Focus on all his responsibilities and ensure that he makes life better for others. These are all lessons we are going to win. And my prayer is that we pick one or two from them and as we move forward, we also practice them,” he said.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, also paid tribute to the late MP, commending his unwavering commitment to the party and his constituents.

“We want to thank him for the service he has provided to our great party, being the MP for Ayawaso East, the support he has given to that constituency, serving his party to great dedication and commitment,” he said.

Hon. Naser Toure Mahama passed away on January 4, 2026, just days after beginning his fourth term in Parliament, leaving behind a legacy of quiet service, humility and constituency-focused leadership.
