The Member of Parliament for South Dayi Constituency and Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, together with the National Director of Feeder Roads, Dr Engineer Samuel Yaw Banini, have undertaken an inspection of ongoing road construction works within the South Dayi Constituency.]
The inspection, which also involved the District Chief Executive, Douglas Kokroko, covered the Todome–Kpalime to Tongor–Dzemeni road project, as well as adjoining roads earmarked for construction under the project’s second phase.
The visit was aimed at assessing the pace and quality of work and encouraging personnel on site.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, Dafeamekpor expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, describing it as impressive given the relatively short period since commencement.
“It has only been two months, yet the amount of work done is remarkable. In some cases, similar projects take three to four years to reach this stage. The quality and speed of work are commendable,” he said.
He noted that the project aligns with the policy direction of the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, who advocates the use of competent local contractors.
The contract was awarded to SANAM Ghana Limited, led by Engineer Gabriel Boateng.
“SANAM Ghana Limited has once again demonstrated its capacity and reliability. I am satisfied with their performance and will readily recommend them for future projects,” Dafeamekpor added.
The MP further explained that the road project was originally initiated by former President John Dramani Mahama in 2015 but stalled following the change of government in 2016.
According to him, work resumed after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) returned to power in 2024.
He expressed gratitude to President Mahama for reviving the road project and for initiating several other development projects in the constituency.
The District Chief Executive, Douglas Kokroko, also commended the MP for his leadership and commitment to development in the area.
“This road is of great importance to the South Dayi Constituency as it connects three major markets. The contractor is doing an excellent job, and the impact of this project will be felt across the constituency,” he said.
For his part, the National Director of Feeder Roads, Dr Engineer Samuel Yaw Banini, praised SANAM Ghana Limited for adhering to specifications and delivering quality work at an impressive pace.
He expressed confidence in the company’s future prospects, citing its professionalism and efficiency.
The road project is expected to significantly improve transportation, enhance market access, and boost economic activities within the South Dayi Constituency once completed.
