Deputy Spokesperson for Dr Bawumia’s Campaign, Ekua Amoakoh, has said the former Vice President stands out among the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer aspirants due to his integrity and character.

Speaking in an interview on the Channel One Newsroom on Friday January 2, Ekua Amoakoh said Dr Bawumia’s reputation has remained untarnished despite over 16 years in Ghanaian politics, beginning as running mate to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“He has been under a microscope in Ghanaian politics for more than 16 years. Up until now, nobody has been able to tarnish his reputation with any incident of corruption. His character has been almost unimpeachable,” she said.

Amoakoh added that Bawumia’s emotional intelligence and leadership qualities make him a standout candidate.

“It is quite obvious that he stands tall among the rest, especially when it comes to good character and the emotional intelligence required to keep a country as interesting as Ghana together,” she said.

Meanwhile, former Vice President and NPP flagbearer aspirant Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has opened a commanding lead in the race to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 general elections, according to the latest National Tracking Poll by Global InfoAnalytics.

The poll, conducted between December 1 and December 21, 2025, shows Dr Bawumia securing 56 per cent support among all voters, well ahead of Kennedy Agyapong, who trails with 28 per cent. Dr Bryan Acheampong and Dr Yaw Osei-Adutwum are tied at 6 per cent apiece, while Kwabena Agyapong records 4 per cent.

Dr Bawumia’s dominance is even more pronounced within the party’s core base. Among NPP voters, 72 per cent back the former Vice President, reinforcing his front-runner status ahead of the party’s January 31 leadership poll. Kennedy Agyapong follows with 19 per cent, while Dr Bryan Acheampong polls 4 per cent, Dr Osei-Adutwum 3 per cent, and Kwabena Agyapong 1 per cent.

The findings suggest a race increasingly tilting in Dr Bawumia’s favour, with his closest challengers trailing by wide margins. The data also points to a fragmented field within the party, a dynamic that could further consolidate his advantage as the contest enters its decisive phase.
