Villa get their man

Aston Villa have finally won the race for Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers.

The Premier League high-fliers have been chasing 21-year-old Rogers for some time and have shelled out a reported initial £8million to land their man.

An England youth international, Rogers has seven goals and eight assists to his name this term in all competitions and scored for Boro against Chelsea in their Carabao Cup semi-final last month.

It marks a return to the West Midlands for the Halesown-born starlet, who started out at West Brom and has also been on the books of Manchester City.

Ribeiro is a Red

Nottingham Forest kicked off the Premier League’s deadline day incomings with the capture of Portugal Under-20s striker Rodrigo Ribeiro on an initial loan from Sporting.

Ribeiro, 18, has scored 11 goals in 42 appearances for the Portuguese club’s B side and made his first-team debut against Manchester City in the Champions League in March 2022.

He has yet to score in seven senior outings but Forest could make the deal permanent next summer for a fee reported to be around £10m.

Dahoud departs

Brighton midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud has made a quick return to Germany by joining Stuttgart on loan.

The 28-year-old penned a four-year deal at the Amex last summer after leaving Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer but has only started six Premier League games this term.

The Seagulls’ technical director David Weir said: “This is a good move for Mahmoud. It will give him an opportunity to play regularly for a side doing very well towards the top of the Bundesliga.”

Wrexham making moves

Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney kicked off deadline day in style at Wrexham with an early double swoop.

The Welsh outfit have moved to land defender Luke Bolton from Salford City and striker Jack Marriott from Fleetwood on permanent deals, with both players arriving for undisclosed fees.

The pair will bolster the Red Dragons’ push for promotion to the third tier, with Phil Parkinson’s men currently sat second in League Two.
