The Certificate You Receive After Completing An Unaccredited Programme Is Useless – Kofi Asare

The Executive Director of Africa Educational Watch, (EduWatch), Mr. Kofi Asare has stated that, the certificate one obtains from unaccredited program is useless because no one recognizes it.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 31st August, 2022, he wrote;

“The certificate you receive after completing an unaccredited programme is as useless as not enrolling. No one recognizes it locally & abroad. Before you enrol in a private or public institution, check gtec.edu.gh for accredited programmes.”

Background

The latest Auditor General report for 2021 has revealed that, only 61 out of the 360 programmes offered by Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is accredited.

The Reality

Folks are paying over GHC 15,000 for 1-year of postgraduate studies with all the associated costs of study materials and all that and sadly, these certificates are essentially a waste, useless and fraudulent as it stands.

Go to the GTEC platform and some of the accreditation has expired for years. These are universities. Centers of excellence. Places that are to train leaders and groom them. And this seems okay and it’s not damning enough to cause these school-fingered to issue releases explaining this embarrassment.

And what are the National Accreditation Board and allied agencies saying?

We’ve normalized mediocrity and absurdity in this country. We will pretend not to see or hear or quickly start the equalization game. And that ends it.
