A young man who was arrested with six locally-made guns while riding a motorcycle has told policemen after his arrest that he bought the six guns from someone whose name he did not know and was taking the guns to sell to two men.
The man, whose name was given as Musa Yakubu and said to be 20 years old from Kampani-Waya village along Kontagora in Niger State, was found with the gun while he was riding a motorcycle by the police patrol team attached to Zungeru Division who were on routine patrol along Zungeru-Minna road, the state police command announced on Friday, December 31.
It was gathered that the policemen flagged down Yakubu who was riding the unregistered motorcycle and when a search was conducted on him, he was found in possession of six locally-made guns and the police promptly arrested him.
According to a statement by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, posted on the Facebook wall of the command on Friday, during interrogation, he was said to have told policemen that he bought the guns from someone whose name he did not know but resides in the same village with him.
He was said to have also added that he was taking the guns to sell to two men whose names he gave as Adamu Ibrahim and Saidu Abubakar both of Beji village in Bosso Local Government Area of the state.
The statement added that the young man was giving more useful information to the police about his activities after which he would be prosecuted at the court of law upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The statement also said efforts are being made by policemen to arrest the two men whom he said he wanted to sell the guns to.
