We Have Quality Players to Replace David Abagna – Former Hearts of Oak Coach

Head coach of Real Tamale United, Shaibu Tanko has said he has the the right materials to fill void the void created by talisman, David Abagna Sandan.

The “Pride of the North” suffered a 2-1 loss to fellow promoted side, Accra Lions in week 10 at the Sogakope Park on Sunday without Abagna Sandan. The former AshantiGold forward in on an international assignment having earned a debut Black Stars call up. His absence looks to have affected the premier league returnees but coach Shaibu Tanko says, there are equally capable replacements.

“I’m really disappointed in the sense that, chances that were created were not utilized. “That is a matter of concern to each and everyone of us except that we will work at it in due course,” Shaibu Tanko told StarTimes. Shaibu Tanko touched on the absence of attacking midfielder, David Abagna Sandan who has been key for the “pride of the North. “Like I mentioned earlier that, we have the men who will really stand for him. “And indeed you saw it; even though his [David Abagna] impact was felt but we were able to make do that people do not realize that he wasn’t here.” Shaibu Tanko told StarTimes.

Abagna Sandan has played nine games and scored 8 goals, one better than Great Olympics striker, Maxwell Abbey-Quaye on the 2021/22 season scorers chart. They had earned four points from their last two games prior to facing Accra Lions in week 10. A 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium and a 2-0 victory over Elmina Sharks at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in weeks eight and nine respectively, put them in a pole position to chase the top four. Real Tamale United have collected 14 points from 10 games and seated 8th on the league table and will next play Dreams FC at home in week 11.
