There is no doubt that armed robberies and other crime-related offenses have been reduced in the country since Dr. George Akuffo Dampare took over as the IGP. Before his tenure, armed robbers were carrying out their operations in broad daylight without any fear of anyone. They were moving to busy locations within the city, shooting at their victims and making away with huge sums of monies.

Sometimes, these armed robbers are unmasked but they are able to carry out their activities without any arrest. After committing the crimes, they will move to their hideouts to plan their next attack. Their activities were becoming rampant in the country until the IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare took over. Initially, the armed robbers were winning with a few daylight bank robberies in the capital, but the swift response from the police has seen a drastic change.

Now, armed robbers are finding it very difficult to operate in the country due to the several strategies implored by the Dampare led police service. The past few days in the month of December 2021 have already seen several armed robbers being killed. The Sawla Police Command in the Savanna Region on December 12 2021 killed two armed robbers and their counterparts are currently on the run.

Even before that, one armed robber was shot dead at Tema Golf City on December 6 2021 with one bolting from the scene after an operation they planned failed. Six young men were also arrested on the same date for dealing in AK47 guns. It is believed that they were supplying them to armed robbers but the police intelligence did not fail, leading to their arrest recently. Another two armed robbers were arrested at East Legon Hills on December 5, 2021, after they attempted to steal from some residents. On December 4, 2021, the Ashanti Region Police Command also killed one armed robber and arrested two at Oseikrom. This makes the number of armed robbers who have been killed by the Police in December alone to four, whilst eleven others have been arrested facing trials.

All the above-mentioned cases happened in the few days of the month of December 2021, a clear signal that the armed robbers are trying to strike by any means possible in the month of December but the Police Service led by the IGP would not allow them. Now, it appears the armed robbers have run out of strategies because nothing seems to be working for them. The police are always a step ahead and that can largely be attributed to the unbreakable records by the IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

Now, the police are destroying the hermitage of the armed robbers gradually, and other criminals before they even plan their next move. For other criminals, they are currently on the run because there is no more room for them to operate. Any move they make will land them in the handcuffs of the police. The current trend adopted by the IGP through the anti-armed robbery police task force must continue. The month of December is as well promising to be a good one for Ghanaians because total security is assured.
