Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum says his charges failed to convert the numerous opportunities that fell their way.

Kotoko suffered their first defeat of the season against King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in the 2021/22 league season. The week six clash saw Kotoko go down three times but managed to reply twice. King Faisal’s teenage sensation, Zubairu Ibrahim bagged a hat-trick on the 3rd, 14th and the 68th minutes with Cameroonian import, Mfegue Omgba grabbing twice on the 48th 72nd minutes for Kotoko. The defeat leaves Kotoko and King Faisal on 13 points each with the “Insha Allah” Boys moving above their rivals with goals difference.

Prosper Narteh Ogum said: “I think we played well, we created the chances, we could have converted those chances but we couldn’t convert those chances. “In a game of football, if you don’t convert those chances that’s what happens. “When we started the game, I think we were flat so they caught us two times on the break and I think those cross passes they were able to connect them.” Prosper Narteh Ogum said in an interview with StarTimes’ Eli Kondo.

Asante Kotoko started the season on an impressive note – grabbing a 3-1 comeback opening win against Dream fc at the Accra Sports Stadium. The record Ghana league holders hurdled their next three games by beating Bechem United 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in week two, a 1-0 victory at Gold Stars in the third week and a 2-0 home win over Eleven Wonders in week four. Their winning streak was halted in a goalless draw at Crosby Awuah Memorial Park against Karela United in the fifth week before suffering a first loss at home to King Faisal in week six.
