Dancehall musician Epixode has stated that the ban placed on two musical heavyweights, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, by the Vodafone Ghana Awards [VGMAs] did for his career a great deal of good.

According to him, although the ban was somewhat unpleasant, it worked in his favour and catapulted his career to the next level.

Speaking on TV3, Epixode said if not for the ban on Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, he wouldn’t have won the “Best Reggae/Dancehall Artist” award at the 2021 VGMAs.

“The VGMA ban on Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy was a blessing in disguise for me.” Will we say that former President John Evans Atta Mills’ death was a blessing in disguise for Mahama? Even though it was a misfortune, it was a blessing in disguise for Mahama, who went on to become president.

“I mean no disrespect to any of them. “I only believe that awards exist to encourage artists,” he added.

The ban on Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale also made it possible for Ras Kuuku to win the same award a year before and he also made the same assertion.
