Ghanaian Tiktoker Martina Dwamena, professionally known as Asantewaa has told Deloris Frimpong Manso (Delay) that the video-sharing app is lucrative.
She took the host of the Delay and her viewers through the genesis of her stardom on TikTok after her friend introduced her.
“My friend (my coursemate). She called me during the lockdown that there’s an app called TikTok, and have I heard about it? And she thinks this app is for me. So download the app. And I am like, ma te (I hear)… so I downloaded the app and did my first video then everybody loved it. I woke up, and people were just tagging me that some bloggers have posted the video.”
Today Asantewaa has almost 900,000 followers with 20million likes on her videos. She disclosed how she makes money from the social media platform.
“Unlike Instagram, where you can just go live without getting money, TikTok you can go live and make money. And you can advertise on your platform and make money directly.”
