“I Used To Be A Kerosene Seller At Ashaiman’-Stonebwoy Recounts His Hustling Days

Ghanaian Afropop/dancehall musician, Livingstone Este Satekla, professionally known as Stonebwoy has recounted his hustling days, saying he used to be a Kerosene seller in his neighborhood, Ashaiman where he grew up.

In an interview with Bernard Avle on Citi TV, Stonebwoy revealed that he had a humble beginning as a child on the account that his mother was a trader, and sometimes, he had to help his sisters sell Kerosene in the neighborhood.

“I sold too, one time I followed my sisters to sell kerosene. In my house we sold water to the area, Stonebwoy said in the interview.

He further revealed that his father who was once a military officer owned a corn mill and sometimes, he had to close from school very early just to assist him with his work.

“My dad also runs a mill. We would mill corn, cassava, and I actually always wanted to close early from school and come work at the mill”, he recounted.

Stonebwoy now holds a record as one of the few musicians from Ghana projecting the country to the world.  He won the Best International Act: Africa category at the 2015 BET Awards and Artist of the Year at the 2015 Ghana Awards. He is also a recipient of two Billboard plaques.
