DGN Boss, Kwame Blay Wins Most Promising CEO Award

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Western Publications Limited, Publishers Daily Guide Newspaper, Kwame Blay has won the Most Promising CEO Award at the Ghana Business Awards held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra last weekend.

Mr. Blay assumed the position of CEO for Western Group in June 2017, replacing Gina Ama Blay, now Ghana’s Ambassador to Germany.

Mr Blay has been spearheading the transformation of the brands under the Western Group- DGN, Daily Guide, Guide Radio and dailyguidenetwork.com. Daily Guide has been a market leader for over three decades.

He was Business Director for the Western Group since 2009, before his elevation to the CEO position.
He is an old boy of Adisadel where he had his secondary education.

Mr Blay is also into real estate development, partnering with international bodies for building affordable houses.
He holds degrees in Government and International Relations from the University of Sydney, Australia.

The fourth edition of the awards celebrated the achievements of individuals, industry players and companies for their contribution to the Ghanaian business sector.

In all, a total of 48 individuals and companies received recognition with the ultimate awards going to Julian Kingsley Opuni, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Ghana, and Chris Chinebuah, CEO of Fueltrade Limited who emerged as CEO of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Decade respectively.

Organised by Globe Productions Limited, the awards scheme since its inception in 2018 has rewarded excellence and standards in the business sector.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, the CEO of Globe Productions, Latif Abubakar, said the winners were selected by an independent advisory board who evaluated the awardees based on the criteria listed for each category.

He explained that the benchmarks for selecting the winners were based on some Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the standards of excellence, including information technology and competitive pricing.

Themed “The Digital Economy, Making More Winners” the awards which was in partnership with the Institute of Directors (IoD), Nobel International Business School (NiBS), Ipag Business School, Swiss Business School and the Lincoln University with support from the Graphic Communications Group Limited and Media General sought to promote business excellence nationally and internationally as well as provide an unparalleled opportunity for networking among industry players.
