The Ghana Police Service has made a clarification concerning the arrest of Ghanaian musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah who is known as Shatta Wale.
This is contrary to an initial claim by the Ghana Police Service that they arrested Shatta Wale making Ghanaians think they fished him out from his hideout.
After the initial claim by the police, Shatta Wale made a post that he was not arrested, however, he went to the police himself.
It took several hours before his claim of presenting himself to the police was confirmed and in the statement released by the police reads;
“Police Have Arrested Charles Nii Armah Mensah Popularly Known as Shatta Wale
The Police have arrested Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale.
After we publicly declared him and one other person wanted, the suspect, Shatta Wale, turned himself in today Tuesday 19th October, 2021, at 8.59pm.
He has been arrested to assist the Police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic.
As stated in previous statements, the public is advised to desist from publishing false information, capable of disturbing the peace of the country or risk being arrested and prosecuted.”
