Shatta Wale and Jesus Ahuofe

Controversial dancehall musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly called Shatta Wale who staged a criminal prank that he was shot fatally, is in hot waters.

The pastor who made the death prophecies on Shatta Wale, triggering the criminal death prank has been picked up by the police.

On Monday evening, Shatta Wale’s personal assistant, one Nana Dope, and a few other people posted on social media that the ‘Shatta Movement’ boss had been shot and was receiving treatment at an unknown medical facility, causing the security agencies to swing into action to control the situation.

There was pandemonium on social media after reports went viral that the popular artist was shot at East Legon, in Accra in a drive-by style on Monday night.

It later turned out that Shatta Wale had feigned the whole incident which is similar to what a woman in Takoradi in the Western Region recently did when she claimed she was kidnapped but it turned out to be untrue.

Swift Action

The police acted swiftly over the Monday evening alleged reports by launching investigations into the supposed shooting incident.

In a statement on Facebook, the Police said none of Shatta’s close associates they spoke to were aware of the shooting incident.

They also said they could not find Shatta Wale after going to look for him at his home and hospitals in Accra.

“The attention of the police has been drawn to the widely circulated news on the alleged gunshot-attack on one Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale. On hearing the news, the police have launched an investigation into the matter including making contacts with some of his close friends and family members and all of them claim not to know his whereabouts or the alleged incident,” the police statement read.

“A team has visited the house of Shatta Wale and he cannot be found there. Over the last few hours, the Police have searched and continue to look for Shatta Wale at hospitals in Accra,” it said, adding “whilst we continue our investigations, the Police are appealing to the public to provide any information concerning the whereabouts of Shatta Wale to the numbers 18555, 191, and 0302773906.”

Shatta Hiding

Shatta Wale yesterday in the morning broke his silence, rather justifying his action by saying his life was threatened and is currently in hiding.

Before the gun attack prank, a pastor called Stephen Akwasi, popularly known as Jesus Ahuofe had predicted that Shatta Wale was going to be gunned down by October 18, which is a day after the musician’s birthday.

The so-called prophecy was made on September 28.

He said until security agencies step up to address such threats, his whereabouts will remain unknown saying “I’ll be on the run till this country shows me there are laws.”

He then apologized to his fans and people who had been affected by the prank and asked them to forgive him.

He suggested that he took the phones of the team members and posted about the fake attack. He also added that he was surprised that the security services could not give him protection after that ‘prophecy’ came in.

Social Media Post

“Psychological, or emotional trauma, is damage or injury to the psyche after living through an extremely frightening or distressing event and may result in challenges in functioning or coping normally after the event (sic),” he said on social media.

“The statement made by this false prophet has got me in a mood of violence since no one in this country cares. So the police of this country want to tell me none of them saw those threatening statements online to take action? This pastor said 18th October Shatta Wale will be shot and you want to tell me you didn’t see from your cybercrime department nor did you hear or come across anything like that online?” he fired.

Attacking Media

“I won’t wait for Ghana police to call my father and tell my father, his son got shot this afternoon, I won’t wait for Ghana stupid media houses to spread the news to my fans about me being shot because all we wish in this country is for dead people and funerals. If my life can be threatened and there is no law to take action on that, then I guess I will do what is right in the eyes of God.”

He said “This is not the first time I have had these threats in this country am now I am going through this emotional trauma alone. My dad has even defended me on the radio on this same issue .why? Why? Ghana? Why?”

Shatta Wale said “Yes, my life is in Danger, and I am on the run till this country shows me there are LAWS,” adding “Deportee, I am sorry for taking your phone. Dope sorry for taking your phone. To my fans I am sorry but I will have to fight this fight alone and get it done. To my Dad, I say sorry for putting you thru (sic) stress.”

He also said “Pastors always say things and later plan evil to it, so that me, and you will believe they are powerful men of God. Enough is enough the youth of this country are tired of religiousness, we know God already and that is that. If this will make me stop music like how many want me to stop, then so be it cuz (because) I am tired of the negativity in this country,” and signed off with the hashtag “Son of Ghana! 1 DON! (SHATTA WALE)”

Samini Jab

Shatta Wale’s revelation attracted reactions from the public. Fellow musician, Samini who is seen as a rival, took to Twitter on Tuesday to ‘troll’ Shatta.

He tweeted, “Chairman @shattawalegh go crack an expensive joke but the current #igp is not laffin (laughing)… now the matter chop hot and gangsters are on the run. Accra is #burning…ok I stop I stop (laughing emoji) Bandana ne gyimiiii di3 ooooo d333bida smh.”

Shatta has since been in the Twitter trends with many people registering their displeasure with his action.

Pastor’s Arrest

In the ensuing heat the pastor who made the death prophecies on Shatta Wale was picked up by the police.

The founder and leader of New Life Kingdom Chapel International, Stephen Akwasi, popularly called Jesus Ahuofe was picked up at the forecourt of Accra100.5 FM yesterday in the morning after arriving for a radio programme.

On September 28, 2021 the pastor said on radio that dancehall artiste Shatta Wale will be shot on October 18, 2021.

Three men clad in mufti, with the driver in a police uniform picked up the pastor while he was waiting to appear on the mid-morning show called Ayekoo Ayekoo.
