Ex-Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu insists Ghana coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor should have trusted the new players invited for the World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.

Agyemang Badu believes some players justified themselves during the friendlies in June and should have played a role in the qualifiers.

The Black Stars coach has come under intense pressure after a lackluster display in the win over Ethiopia and the abysmal performance in the defeat to South Africa.

“CK can’t be taken off the blame if he says the players he gave opportunity against South Africa disappointed him. This is qualifiers and CK should have tried the new players in the friendlies that we played,” Agyemang Badu told Ahomka FM.

The China-based player, who retired from international football at age 30, had 78 caps with the national team and believes the current squad should know the difference between the qualifiers and major competitions.

“The current Black Stars players should up their game a bit and they should know the difference between national team and club. For qualifiers, you might go and play on a bad pitch and u need to adjust yourself,” added Agyemang Badu.
