Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif with GOC reps and the Olympic Athletes
A delegation from the Ghana Olympic Committee led by the President, Ben Nunoo Mensah called on Hon. Mustapha Ussif, Minister for Youth and Sports at the ministry yesterday.
Mr Nunoo Mensah who led the team disclosed that the visit was a warmly one to the minister to officially thank him for his support and to also discuss plans for the team going forward.
The president of the Ghana Boxing Federation, Mr George Lamptey also thanked the minister for his exceptional benevolence when he donated his money to the Boxing team during their preparation to Tokyo and his swiftness in ensuring the team had all the needed equipment for their training is worth commendable. He also assured the minister of going beyond the Bronze medal if the support continues in that manner.
The minister thanked the delegation for coming and assured them of the government’s commitment to sports development across all disciplines.
He also disclosed to them the ongoing workshop for the National Team coaches of all disciplines and the need to equip them enough to discover talents beyond Accra.
He also seized the opportunity to admonish the athletes present to make good use of the opportunities at their disposal and remain committed to training.
He then asked the Ghana Olympics Committee to present to him a strategic plan for the Commonwealth Games next year and also the African Games in 2023.
