Aug. 18 (UPI) — A Maryland man said changing his numbers at the last minute led to winning his second major lottery prize.

The 36-year-old Baltimore man told Maryland Lottery officials he was grocery shopping with his girlfriend at Redner’s Warehouse Market in Baltimore on Saturday when he decided to play the lottery’s Racetrax virtual horse racing game.

“I normally play 1, 2, 6 and 7,” the player said. He said he was able to buy his ticket when “something said to play 12.”

The man’s $16 wager on 2-6-7-12 ended up winning him a $20,177 jackpot.

“I turned to my girlfriend and said, ‘I just won 20 grand,'” the winner recalled.

The man previously had a brush with lottery luck when he entered the Warehouse Dash second-chance drawing in 2018 and won a trip to Chicago and a 90-second shopping spree at a warehouse.
