BET award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, known in showbiz scenes as Sarkodie has revealed the reason behind the absence of Ghanain artists in BET and Grammy nomination list.

Sarkodie is among the few musicians in Ghana who have made it to the award scheme and also the first-ever artist winner of the Best International flow award.
Well, per speculations made by some social media users on the digital platform, Nigerian artists turn to break international boundaries more than Ghanaian artists. This comes after Burna Boy became the first Nigerian to win a Grammy award with his “Twice As Tall” album.
The recent nomination list for the BET awards has Nigerian stars dominating the list as no Ghanaian musician got nominated this time around. Stars like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy who are known to be the frontrunners when it comes to music in Ghana were lambasted for their failure to secure nominations in this year’s edition.
In reaction to the trolls on social media, Sarkodie has expressed his frustrations in how Ghanaians fail to recognize their own acts for their works.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, King Sark stated that Ghanaians turn to ignore what their artists achieve and focus on what others have achieved, ignoring the hard work Ghanaian acts put in their work.
He mentioned that Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have been able to secure deals with international acts like Beyonce and Keri Hilson but Ghanaians rather compare them to the likes of Wizkid and Burna Boy, who to him are not doing anything extraordinary than what they are doing in Ghana.
He further stated that Ghanaian acts are doing very well with their crafts and deserve the necessary support of their fanbases to push them to the top just as Nigerians are doing.
