“Not having genre of music can never be a major setback. It has never been a major setback anywhere in the world.

Yes, Ghanaians we do Highlife. But anybody else can do any genre and win awards. Our biggest problem is funding. There are a lot of artistes out there who do not have the resources.

Drake who is about the biggest artiste in the world right now is signed to about 10 record labels. One of the reasons we have that is preventing us from getting to the GRAMMYs is our distribution.

Shatta Wale is a dancehall/reggae artiste. He is well-to-do. I do not want to go into what he went through to get where he is now. Having just one genre is not our major setback.

We need to fix the royalty system, distribution and labels in this industry.”
