Ghanaian musician, Eugene Marfo who is known as Kuami Eugene is in the news once again over a song theft.

This adds up to the previous times he was in the news for this same reason as he once again failed to get the required permission.

The song in question is his DOLLAR ON YOU and this was made known by renowned sound engineer and music producer, Roro.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure FM, Roro indicated that he has been in touch with Lynx Entertainment concerning the issue.

He stated that Eugene sampled some lyrics of the late Prophet Seth Frimpong’s popular ‘Okumcholla’ song.

According to him, as the producer of the song he owns royalties on it revealing how he felt disrespected after he never got any notification before the lyrics were sampled.

In his submission, he said;

“Richie and Kuami should know better. I felt disrespect when I had to rather contact them myself over this. I have been in touch with them and they have agreed to share royalties with us over the song.

Sampling someone’s lyrics is not bad as you even contribute to reviving the song especially when the artist is big but when you do it without the consent of the artist or management, that’s disrespectful and wrong and until someone sues an artist for a huge amount, this practice will continue. We need to do the right thing.”
