The Pro-NPP entertainer incurred the wrath of the Gas after she said in a Live Facebook session that the strength of God would ensure that very soon the traditional festival would no longer be celebrated in Accra.

According to GraphicOnline, the GaDangme Youth Association led by Nii Ayaafio Tetteh I, at a press conference yesterday, May 4, 2021, disclosed that it had reported the singer’s comments to the Acting President of the Ga Traditional Council, Nii Adotey Otintor II for action within a week.

Following the backlash, the award-winning singer has rendered an unqualified apology to all members of the GaDangme community and the entire Ga-Adangbe Traditional Area in a video posted on her Facebook page.

She wrote in the caption: “As a person, we all make mistakes, please forgive your daughter/sister/mother/friend. I withdraw my statement made on Facebook live”.

She added that as a Christian she respects the customs of everyone, pleading with the Ga Mantse, traditional rulers, queen mothers and the entire Ga traditional area to forgive her for her unfortunate comments.

Homowo is a festival celebrated by the Ga people of Ghana, occupying the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. Homowo is celebrated to remember how the ancestors of the Ga people survived severe famine and hunger that plagued them as they were migrating to Ghana.
