Nairobi — An Angolan delegation of Mass Media Ministry attended Tuesday in Nairobi, Kenya, an awareness “workshop” of medias on International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
Headed by the national director of information, José Luís de Matos, the Angolan delegation integrated chief-editor of national news-room of the Angolan News Agency (ANGOP), David Mário, and the press attach of the Angolan embassy to Tanzania, Francisco Cassanda.
The debates on the topics were preceded by the presentation of documentary video entitled “blood in motion” which portrays aspects related to the trade of mineral resources in the region and in the world.
It also addressed the framework of activities of the event.
The meeting awakened the journalists to play a greater role in fighting against the trafficking of natural resources, thus turning the region into a place of peace, stability and socio-economic development.
The event ended with the interaction session on the future engagement with “medias” and many recommendations.
The executive secretary of ICGLR, with the headquarters in Bujumbura, Burundi, is the ambassador Liberata Mulamula of Tanzania.
ICGLR comprises Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic (CAR), Republic of the Congo, DR Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
