Olympian Kipchoge Keino is coming to Uganda to give local athletes tips on how to excel in their careers.

The former Kenyan star runner will be the chief guest at the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) Athletes Forum due June 25 at Grand Imperial Hotel.

“We are glad that he has confirmed his presence. Hopefully, our athletes will learn a lot from him,” UOC Athletes Commission chairperson Dr Aya Nakitanda told Daily Monitor recently.

The forum, the first of its kind in Uganda, will also attract several local sports administrators and retired sportsmen. Keino, one of the world’s best athletes at his prime, is currently the Kenya Olympic Committee president.

Meanwhile, Western Region Athletics Association (WRAA), will on Saturday stage a track and field competition at Seed Secondary School in Kanungu District.

“We have invited the Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi, to officiate as chief guest,” the event’s organising committee head Mackaybeth Akankwasa said yesterday.
