The ceremony was attended by Islamic scholars, preachers, traditional rulers and other Muslim faithful.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Imam urged Muslims to contribute to the growth of Islam in their various capacities and commended the facilitator of the centre for using his wealth towards the development of Islam.
Earlier, co-ordinator of the centre and Imam of the Mosque, Mallam Adam Tahir, said the centre was established in 2006 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2008, primarily as a base for religious and cultural interaction among Muslims in the FCT.
‘’We at the centre will work to see how Islam can be promoted through da’awah, education and economic empowerment and already over 50 pupils have started their studies at the centre,’’ he declared.
Also speaking, founder of the centre, Dr. Ibraheem Angulu Ma’aji, said his decision to build the centre was to contribute his quota to the development of Islam and thanked those that have contributed to the success of the centre.
Highlights of the event were the singing of Islamic songs and recitation of the Holy Quran, while the chief Imam of Abuja led congregations of the new mosque in the first Jumat prayers.
