The Kuje division of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has said that it is presently collaborating with officials of Power Holdings Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in the council area in order to checkmate the activities of vandals, who destroy PHCN cables.

Kuje NSCDC Divisional Officer, Deputy Superintendent Lawal Oladipo said vandalization of PHCN cables, telecommunication installations and other valuable property of the public is unacceptable to the security agencies, adding that both NSCDC and PHCN have concluded plans to curb the menace.

He said vandalizing public property poses negative consequences to the populace as it denies them access to use PHCN’s facilities and services that they pay for.

According to him, the agency has also taken measures to improve on its monitoring and surveillance activities at Kuje and environs, with a view to discouraging criminals from perpetrating crimes.

“We are working together with PHCN officials to deal with vandals. Anybody who specializes in damaging public property must desist or face the full wrath of the law when caught. We have extended our tentacles to neighbouring villages such as Kiyi, Chukuku, Chibiri, Gawube and others, which is yielding good results for us,” he added.

He stressed the need for cooperation and understanding from government and residents in the area of disaster management.
