The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) yesterday kicked against four counter-campaign rallies organised by the Babatunde Raji Fashola-led Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) government in Lagos during the party’s presidential campaign to the state.

The PCC’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mallam Abba Dabo, who fielded questions from journalists, said the rallies were ‘programmed to cause confusion’ having known that President Goodluck Jonathan would be in Lagos on that particular day.

Dabo said this when he was asked to comment on the way and manner by which few PDP governors were muzzling opposition parties in their states with particular reference to the action of Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State who was said to have announced that All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) would not be allowed to hold their rallies in the state.

On the presidential debate, he explained that there are invitations from several quarters, including NN24, Channels TV, This Day, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and individuals with varying degrees of requests from the party on the format of the debate.
