Still, there are lines that cannot be crossed, and one of those boundaries was pushed as a mannequin wearing a Vinicius Jr jersey was found in the early hours of the morning hanging from an overpass in Madrid. The mannequin was accompanied by a banner that read “Madrid hates Real.”

A few injuries have sapped Real Madrid of their depth. The most notable issue is with Aurelien Tchouameni, who remains out after picking up an injury at the World Cup, forcing Eduardo Camavinga into action. David Alaba is back fit, and could enter to give Eder Militao a rest.

Eden Hazard cropped up with an ankle injury in training and is out for this match, while Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal are also sidelined. Vazquez’s ankle issue is a weeks-long problem that could leave him out of action until March.
