Peruvian talent Gaston Bolanos is finally scheduled to make his UFC debut at a UFC Fight Night on April 15. A regular on the Bellator prelims cards, Bolanos will face Louisiana native Aaron Phillips in a bantamweight matchup. The booking was initially reported by Carlos Contreras Legaspi on ESPN Deportes.
The rest of the card currently looks like this:
Pedro Munhoz vs. Chris Gutierrez
Edson Barboza vs. Billy Quarantillo
Dustin Jacoby vs. Azamat Murzakanov
Lando Vannata vs. Daniel Zellhuber
Batgerel Danaa vs. Brady Hiestand
Piera Rodriguez vs. Gillian Robertson
TJ Brown vs. Bill Algeo
Martin Buday vs. Jake Collier
Bruna Brasil vs. Denise Gomes
Bolanos initially made a name for himself with highlight reel finishes off of spinning attacks. ‘The Dreamkiller’ signed with the UFC in November right after he bounced back from consecutive losses with a TKO win over Daniel Carey exactly a year before his scheduled UFC debut. The Peruvian folded Carey with hardly a second left in the first round.
Gaston Bolanos has built a reputation for being ducked as four of his last five outings have fallen through due to his opponents pulling out.
Watch the highlight below:
Gaston Bolanos will be welcomed by Aaron Phillips, who hasn’t been able to make a UFC appearance since a second-round submission loss to Jack Shore in 2020. ‘The Dragon’ has fought under the UFC in the past as well and was released in 2014 after dropping two out of two.
Phillips went on to rack up a five-fight win streak in the World Fighting Championships that was snapped by the loss to Shore.
