What time is UFC 283 today? Glover Teixeira vs. Jamahal Hill channel, PPV schedule, & main card start time

After an attempt to crown a new UFC light heavyweight champion didn’t go as planned, the UFC will look to a former champion and a rising contender to get the job done at UFC 283 on January 21.

Inside Brazil’s Jeunesse Arena, Glover Teixeira and Jamahal Hill will fight for the UFC light heavyweight title. The co-main event will see Deiveson Figueiredo defend the UFC flyweight title against Brandon Moreno.

When champion Jiri Prochazka injured his shoulder, Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz fought for the title at UFC 282. The bout was determined a split decision draw. UFC President Dana White wasted no time and booked Teixeira, who Prochazka beat for the belt, against Hill.

The 43-year-old Teixeira was ecstatic to hear the news after thinking it would be a while before he fought for gold again.

“In my mind, I was thinking the whole time, ‘This fight, turn around quick. The UFC needs a main event in Brazil. They might get one of those guys to fight in Brazil,’” Teixeira told MMA Underground, via MMA Fighting. “Nobody said anything, but I was thinking that… Then the craziness happens, that decision that nobody understood. But hey, like I said, let the universe take care of things. Glover, you’re fighting in Brazil. Let’s go!… They just called me backstage, I got there and talked to Hunter and Mickey and they asked me and I said, ‘Let’s go.’ Before they said the opponent. They said, ‘You want to fight in Brazil for the belt?’ I said, ‘Let’s go! Whoever.’”

Hill turned pro in 2017. A Dana White’s Contender Series alum, Hill started with the UFC in 2019. He is on a three-fight win streak. Hill’s last fight was a TKO win against Thiago Santos in August. “Sweet Dreams” was preparing to face Anthony Smith in March until White revealed he was fighting for a title.
