Tom Brady tipped to join Las Vegas Raiders and offer franchise a 'parting gift'

Tom Brady has been told he can help the Las Vegas Raiders to a Super Bowl before he retires, with his departure from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers expected to be confirmed.

The 45-year-old quarterback will become a free agent once the season ends, and it remains unclear what he will do in 2023 – retire or return for his 24th season.

Brady shocked the world last season when he announced his retirement, only to come back just 40 days later to sign a one-year deal with the Buccaneers.. But a disappointing campaign would follow, with the team now looking like they may need to rebuild their roster, amid big questions going into the 2023 season.

Should Brady return for his 24th season, he will want to be in the situation that gives him the best possible chance to win a Super Bowl. Many had presumed that would be with his hometown team, the San Francisco 49ers.

However, the emergence of rookie Brock Purdy has made that a little unrealistic, with the team also having Trey Lance returning next season – who they effectively spent three first-round picks to select in the 2021 draft.

Since then, the Las Vegas Raiders have emerged as favourites for Brady. Whilst they may not have the best offensive line to protect him, the team does boast arguably the best receiver in the league in Davante Adams – who would be an ideal fit with Brady.

Speaking to the official betting partner of the NFL in UK and Ireland, 888sport, Jason Bell has stated that Brady could achieve some great things with the organisation. He would be paired with his long-time offensive coordinator in New England, Josh McDaniels, who is now head coach of the Raiders.

Bell said: “I do think Monday Night football was Tom Brady’s last game in Tampa Bay. However, I don’t think it was his last game in the NFL as the Las Vegas Raiders look a good fit to me.

“He’s done pretty much all you can do in the NFL, but has he ever nurtured and developed a quarterback? I don’t think he really has, and at the Raiders he could go and do it.

“He can help Las Vegas with their culture and with what Josh McDaniels is trying to do, so that in the future they can be a force again. It’s almost his time to give them a parting gift and show them how the quarterback position is played.”

Brady is also being linked with the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints and a reunion with the Patriots.
