Jamie Carragher ends feud with Richarlison and joins Tottenham warm-up at Man City

Jamie Carragher has appeared to end his feud with Richarlison after the Sky Sports pundit decided to warm up with the Tottenham forward ahead of their clash against Manchester City.

The clash began when Richarlison took to Twitter after Everton guaranteed their Premier League status for another season witha dramatic 3-2 win over Crystal Palace last season. “@Carra23 wash your mouth before you talk about me and Everton, and I don’t respect you,” Richarlison tweeted, followed by an unflattering emoji.

Carragher responded with a frank tweet: “I actually quite like this. If Twitter was about when I was a player, I’m sure I would’ve called pundits out quite a lot!!”

The 44-year-old had previously accused Richarlison of play-acting in last season’s Merseyside derby at Anfield, which ended in a 2-0 win for Liverpool. “Honestly, get up. Get up, carry on,” Carragher said about the former Toffees frontman as he blasted the Brazilian for his actions.

They also had another altercation in Spurs’ 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest in August but the pair appeared to make up as Richarlison was warming up at the Etihad Stadium. The 25-year-old decided to play the ball to Carragher, who was working for Sky Sports, before the duo shared a couple of passes.

The exchange ended with Carragher going up to Richarlison to shake his hand, before then having a brief conversation, where the Spurs striker apologised. Carragher said: “We’re all mates, he apologised, so I accepted it.

“I said ‘are you going to be a good boy today, is there any fighting or whatever?’ And he replied by saying, ‘no just football today’.” Carragher was speaking ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Spurs, where he detailed special praise on one of Richarlison’s teammates in Harry Kane, who has scored 15 goals this season.

The 29-year-old is currently the second-highest scorer in the Premier League this term behind Erling Haaland – and Carragher heaped praise on the Tottenham forward.

Carragher said: “Harry Kane’s game is different to Haaland, and in some ways would Harry Kane suit Manchester City maybe a little bit more? I know maybe 12 months before they tried to get him but he is a natural at dropping deep and getting on the ball. We will see that tonight, but of course you don’t want him halfway in his own half.

“You’re talking Harry Kane picking the ball up just inside his own half, getting on the half turn and playing balls into Kulusevski and Son. I actually think that will be the plan because it worked an absolute treat here last season, and I don’t think there’s anyone better – never mind in the Premier League, we’re talking about world football.

“As an attacking player who can get the ball on the half turn and release a pass. I think he’s one of the best passers of a ball certainly in European football right now.”
