Emma Raducanu now has a clearer view of the demands of the WTA Tour and hopes that experience will help her have a better 2023 season. Raducanu, who turned 20 in October, played her first full season on the WTA Tour in 2022.

Throughout the 2022 season, Raducanu battled injuries and physical setbacks. Following a preseason in which she has focused on getting stronger, Raducanu is looking forward to a healthier and more successful 2023 season. “It definitely seemed very hectic to me, because of how intense the tour was, and on top of that.

A lot of times you don’t feel ready for the game or the tournament, but you still have to keep going. It’s non-stop, there are no breaks. It was difficult for me to continue. Each tournament demanded a little more from me, and one of the things that cost me the most was dealing with injuries.

So my goal for 2023 is to stay healthy for longer. I am looking forward to working hard, because now I know better what awaits me. So I’ll be less nervous,” Raducanu told the WTA Tour website. Raducanu, who reached a career-best 10th position last year, is now ranked 78th in the world.

Furthermore, Raducanu has not had a win since her participation in the 2021 US Open. In an interview with the WTA website, Raducanu admitted that one of her goals for 2023 is to win at least one title. This week, Raducanu kicks off her 2023 season at the Auckland ASB Classic.

After Auckland, Raducanu will travel to Melbourne to play the Australian Open. Now Raducanu is stronger and more experienced. During a press conference ahead of the Auckland ASB Classic, Emma Raducanu admitted she was more involved with her non-tennis commitments.

“The other things around me have changed a lot.”

Amritraj on Emma Raducanu

Emma Raducanu’s consistent injury woes have been a major issue for the Brit over the past few seasons. “She [Raducanu] thrust into the highest level of events and she had to play that all year round.

There is the physical stress, mental stress, emotional stress, all of which comes out in the body and perhaps it’s just still getting used to and spending a lot more time getting the body ready,” the American said in a conversation at the Tennis Channel.

“Hopefully, it’s not something major that requires months and months of rehab but it is so frustrating, especially at this early stage. Hopefully, she can build physically and get back as quickly as possible,” she conveyed.
