Watch Joe Mixon mock NFL with coin flip touchdown celebration vs. Ravens after playoff rule tweak

A penny for your thoughts, Joe Mixon?

The Bengals were none too pleased with the NFL’s decision to resort to coin-flip rules for home field in the AFC wild-card game if Cincinnati drops their season finale vs. the Ravens.

Well, Mixon decided to channel his inner Terrell Owens (or Chad Ochocinco, or Joe Horn, if you prefer) on Sunday afternoon. After scoring the game’s first touchdown, Mixon pulled a coin out of his glove and flipped it, flipping off the NFL in the process.

Mixon was among the most vocal members of the Bengals after the NFL changed its playoff seeding rules in the wake of the Bills-Bengals cancellation stemming from Damar Hamlin’s on-field collapse.

With the celebration, Mixon joins a long list of NFL greats to use props in a touchdown celebration.

Chad Ochochinco made a career of using props for his scoring celebrations, including, but not limited to, T-shirts, pylons and handmade signs. The longtime Bengals receiver approved of Mixon’s effort and vowed to pay off any fines the NFL might hand down.

Terrell Owens reached a level of fame by hiding a Sharpie in his sock and signing a football for a fan.

Joe Horn once used a cell phone he hid underneath a goal post after scoring a TD.

But considering the circumstances of Mixon’s celebration, it may be the best — and most petty — of the bunch. Consider this a new definition of “flipping off.”
