“What is happening to the world of golf is definitely something sad. But golf goes on and things will settle down, it’s just a matter of time. I won’t be moving to LIV and so all this, at the moment, is not a problem for me”

Scottie Scheffler, statements

Scottie Scheffler, second in the world ranking, takes a position on the dispute that continues to closely affect the main golf circuits. The American admits “that it is a strange story” and hopes that, at least when The Masters is played (in April, when Scheffler will defend the “Green Jacket won in 2021), the controversy will be put aside.

Then, from Hawaii, where from today to Sunday he is among the most awaited protagonists of the Sentry Tournament of Champions, an event of the PGA Tour, Scheffler reveals an anecdote concerning Bubba Watson, who moved to the LIV, the Arab Super League.

“I saw him recently on vacation. I told him that for the traditional dinner of champions at The Masters, I’d reserve a separate table for him. But I said it jokingly, of course” Scott Alexander “Scottie” Scheffler (born June 21, 1996 in Dallas, Texas) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour.

As of July 2022, he is the first place in the world golf rankings. He first achieved that spot on March 27 after winning the WGC-Dell Match Play Championship. That win, in turn, came weeks after his first win on the PGA Tour at the WM Phoenix Open in February 2022.

He then went on to win his fourth tournament of the year and his first major tournament at The Masters Tournament, 2022. He competed in the 2021 Ryder Cup. The PGA Tour is an organization that curates major professional golf tours in the United States.

It is based in Ponte Vedra Beach, a suburb of Jacksonville, Florida. Its official name is written in all capital letters, i.e. “PGA TOUR” The PGA Tour became its own organization in 1968, when it split from the PGA of America, which is now primarily an association of golf professionals, such as instructors and club managers.

Tournament players first formed their own organization, the Association of Professional Golfers (APG). Later, in 1968, the players abolished the APG and agreed to operate as the PGA “Tournament Players Division”, a fully autonomous division of the PGA, overseen by a new 10-member Tournament Policy Board. The name then officially changed to “PGA Tour” in 1975.
