Liverpool begin the defence of their FA Cup crown when they take on Wolves at Anfield in the competition’s third round.
But, rather than the start of a possible route to silverware, this game is more about the Reds attempting to somehow get back to their best after they suffered yet another shock defeat in a season packed with them at Brentford last time out.
That won’t be easy against a Wolves outfit who have started to show improvement under new boss Julen Lopetegui.
However, it remains to be seen how seriously the Spaniard takes this tournament given that Premier League survival is the clear priority.

Liverpool vs. Wolves live updates, highlights
36th min: Guedes lets fly from distance but Alisson is equal to it and palms the ball away from goal.
33rd min: Konate gets across to cut out a ball in behind to Ait-Nouri, who would have been in on goal had he reached that.
Wolves doing what so many sides have done to Liverpool this season – bullying them in the centre of the park then getting the pass away quickly.
26th min: GOAL! Wolves lead and it’s a courtesy of an absolute howler from Alisson!
Liverpool had already got away with a loose pass moments earlier, Thiago managing to win a 50/50 that should never have been on to poke the ball back to his goalkeeper.
But then Alisson simply passes the ball to Guedes, who probably can’t believe his luck as he quickly sidefoots home from close range.
20th min: Ruben Neves down receiving treatment – Wolves will hope that’s nothing serious for such a key player.
… And it doesn’t look to be as he returns to the field.
15th min: Matip is closed down by Guedes and gifts the ball to the Wolves striker in the Kop-end box but just about manages to get a recovery tackle in to force a goal-kick.
A let-off for the defender.
11th min: Gakpo and Robertson linking up nicely on the left-hand side, most recently to allow the latter to put in dangerous low cross that is desperately cleared.
5th min: Cody Gakpo gets his first shot away in Liverpool red, working a yard with a clever first touch and then hitting a left-footer at goal.
Unfortunately for the Dutchman, it’s straight at Sarkic.

40 mins from kickoff: So, Liverpool go strong as they look to fight their way back to some semblance of form in what has been a disappointing season so far.
Wolves, meanwhile, not quite as weak as it been suggested they might go, but not quite full-strength, either.

1.5 hrs from kickoff: It’ll be fascinating to see what sort of line-up Julen Lopetegui goes with tonight. The FA Cup is arguably just a distraction for Wolves this season as they bid to stave off relegation, but can their boss afford his players to lose the momentum they have built up with a heavy defeat here?
