Iga Swiatek opens up on how it felt playing mixed doubles with Hubert Hurkacz

Iga Swiatek enjoyed her first experience of playing mixed doubles with Hubert Hurkacz. On Sunday, Swiatek and Hurkacz defeated Zhibek Kulambayeva and Grigoriy Lomakin at the United Cup with a 6-3 6-4 score. After the match, Swiatek jokingly admitted she absolutely loved Hurkacz’s service games as during them there was no need for her volleying skills to be tested.

“It was amazing. It was the first time I had the opportunity to play with Hubi. When he serves, it’s the best feeling ever. I don’t have to do anything on the volleys, so I love it! He gives a lot of positive energy and I am the one who usually needs it,” Swiatek said of playing mixed doubles with Hurkacz, per Relevant Tennis.

Swiatek, Hurkacz got the job done for Poland

Going into the mixed doubles match, Poland had an already secured victory over Kazakhstan since they were 3-1 up.

Following Swiatek and Hurkacz’s mixed doubles victory, Poland defeated Kazakhstan with a 4-1 score in their opener at the United Cup. In the first set of the mixed doubles match, Swiatek pulled off an insane around-the-net shot.

After the match, Hurkacz admitted he was absolutely impressed by what Swiatek pulled off. “Iga’s shot behind the net was insane. She is playing really amazing, hitting the ball super hard and carrying me for the whole match so it was very nice.

January 1st and she already has the shot of the year so it is a pretty good start,” Hurkacz said of Swiatek’s magnificent shot.

Meanwhile, Swiatek and Hurkacz got the job done for Poland in their first match at the United Cup.

On Saturday, Swiatek defeated Yulia Putintseva in the first match of the Poland and Kazakhstan tie. On Sunday, Hurkacz also got the job done in his singles match as he defeated Alexander Bublik. In the end, Swiatek and Hurkacz also won their mixed doubles match as Poland easily defeated Kazakhstan.
