John Millman thinks players like Nick Kyrgios, Taylor Fritz and Hubert Hurkacz will all like their Australian Open chances considering the new balls that are set to be used at Melbourne Park. Millman, 33, has kicked off his preparation for the Australian Summer.

Millman is currently preparing for the new season in his hometown Brisbane. There, Millman got a chance to test the new balls that are set to be used at the Australian Open. “Having hit with the AO 2023 Dunlop balls the last week my general observation is they are light and quick, especially when new.

Not the easiest to control initially even in the humid conditions where I am in Brisbane. NK, Hurkacz, Fritz all very dangerous this AO,” Millman wrote on Twitter.

When asked by a fan to compare the new Australian Open balls with the ones already used at the US Open, Millman said: “I think they feel a little lighter, especially when new.

Unsure how they are wearing on the Melbourne courts but in Brisbane conducive to creating relatively quick conditions.”

Last week, Millman gave his opinion on Adderall use in tennis. After Fernando Verdasco forgot to renew his Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) and failed a doping test for an ADHD medication, some players suggested that there is a widespread use of Adderall in the tennis world.

“In general I really don’t like TUE’s in professional sport. Opens up way too many loopholes to ‘legally dope’ – it’s very unfortunate for those with legitimate need as is the probable case here.

However, it’s been long known that if you want to dope, get a TUE. To add to this is one of the reasons I think Simona Halep is innocent. If she really wanted to enhance her performance with a substance she could have just gone down a TUE path.

I genuinely believe she is innocent and hope she returns to the courts soon!” Millman explained on Twitter
