2022 will certainly remain an unforgettable year for Cameron Smith.

In January he got off to a strong start, winning the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii, improving Ernie Els’ record he had held since 2003 (-31) with 34 strokes under par.
In March he was awarded The Players, the fifth Major, becoming the fifth Australian to enter his name in the tournament roll of honor, after a thriller finale on hole 18 (bogey after the tee shot in the water), prevailing over Anirban Lahiri by a single blow.
But it was in July that the most important victory came, the 150th Open Championship on the Old Course of St. Andrews, breaking Cameron Young and two Rory McIlroys by one stroke thanks to a capital performance on the green in the fourth and last lap.
. At the end of the PGA Tour season two other important events, almost contemporary. He was awarded the PGA Player of the Year Award. He signed with LIV Golf, led by his fellow countryman Greg Norman. He has played in the last five events of the LIV season, winning the Chicago stage thirteen under par, and finishing fifth with Team Punch GC, of which he is the captain, after the final event in Miami.
Well, after such a busy season, Cameron could have enjoyed a well deserved rest. But no. He returned to Australia to take part in the two most important events on the PGA of Australia calendar, the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship and the ISPS Handa Australian Open.
And since the PGA Championship is held in Brisbane, his hometown, in his spare time he decided to try to enter the Guinness Book of Records. Together with his coach, Grant Field, he organized at the Royal Queensland Golf Club the attempt to beat the Guinness World Record for the golf lesson with several participants (duration of 30 minutes), inviting his compatriots to help him.

The attempt was unsuccessful, the record remains in the hands of El Camaleon Golf Course in Cancun where, on January 23, 2011, 1,073 players took part in the golf lesson which remains the most popular to date.
But for Cameron Smith it was still an opportunity to be among his fans, proud of the one who brought the Claret Jug back down under.
