Andrey Rublev admitted he started to rush after falling down by a break to Andrey Rublev and that led to many mistakes and ultimately him losing in straight sets. In the semifinal at the ATP Finals, Ruud saw off Rublev 6-2 6-4.
Rublev routinely served out his first two service games but then missed out on two consecutive game points in the fifth game as Ruud opened a 3-2 lead. Rublev got so frustrated with himself after blowing game points and surrendering a break.
Ruud took the full advantage of Rublev losing his focus as Ruud won nine games in a row to open a 6-2 4-0 lead. Rublev managed to get one break back and cut the deficit to 5-4 in the second set, but Ruud had no problems serving out for the match in his second attempt.
Andrey Rublev on what went wrong against Casper Ruud
“I think I started quite well, and then, I don’t know, Casper were just too good. He played really well, really solid. When I lost my serve, I start to rush a bit.
I was trying to play aggressive, rushing. I start to miss more and more,” Rublev said, per Tennis Majors.

Also, Rublev acknowledged that Ruud serving extremely well didn’t help him either.
“It’s tough to do anything when he has, I don’t know, almost 80% first serve serving 215. It’s tough to do something. Then when the match was almost done, when I managed to relax a bit and I was keep playing aggressive, but it was too late.
He was too good,” Rublev added.
