Phil Mickelson surprised many with his statement about the PGA Tour a few days ago. Mickelson was clear and feels he made a good decision by coming to LIV Golf.
“I think going forward you have to pick a side. You have to pick what side do you think is going to be successful and I firmly believe that I’m on the winning side of how things are going to evolve and shape in the coming years for professional golf.

We play against a lot of the best players in the world on LIV and there are a lot of the best players in the world on the PGA Tour. Until both sides sit down and have a conversation and work something out, both sides are going to continue to change and evolve.

And I see LIV Golf trending upwards, I see the PGA Tour trending downwards and I love the side that I’m on.” – he said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com

Phil Mickelson explains his view

Mickelson appeared to be frustrated with the criticism LIV Golf received.

Many said that LIV Golf will disappear and that they do not have the capacity to be on the golf scene in the long run. Phil could not stand such comments: “Maybe I shouldn’t have said stuff like that, I don’t know,” Mickelson said. “But if I’m just looking at LIV Golf and where we are today to where we were six, seven months ago and people are saying this is dead in the water, and we’re past that, and here we are today, a force in the game that’s not going away, that has players of this caliber that are moving professional golf throughout the world and the excitement level in the countries around the world of having some of the best players in the game of golf coming to their country and competing”.

Let’s remind: Mickelson surprised golf fans by leaving the PGA Tour. No one expected it to come to that, but Phil had his own plans.
