Shane Lowry is an artist… who does not give up! After breaking his putter on hole number 9 during the first round of the CJ Cup, the Irishman managed to play his return round at -2… better than on the first nine holes with an intact putter.
With a signed card of 68 (-3) for a bogey-free day, the winner of the 2019 British Open immediately drove to the PGA Tour Superstore in Bluffton, located an hour’s drive from Congaree Golf Club. As shown in the photo, Lowry was able to pick up a brand new Odyssey putter, certainly similar to his own.

If the Irishman did not specify the circumstances of the accident, he attacked the 2nd round with a smile and signed a remarkable 67 which placed him in the top 10 halfway through the tournament in South Carolina!
A smile that also lit up the staff and customers on Thursday at the PGA Tour Superstore in Bluffton, certainly surprised and delighted to meet the Irish star in their usual store! Shane Lowry (born 2 April 1987) is an Irish golfer.
His best career result is the victory of a major tournament, the 2019 Open Championship. In 2007 he won the Irish Amateur Close. As an amateur he triumphed, in May 2009, at the Irish Open: it was an extraordinary result, given that only two amateurs had managed to obtain a European Tour title.
He thus entered the world rankings at number 168. The week after he turned pro, but the start was not easy, as he did not make the cut in the first three tournaments. In November, however, he finished third at the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in Japan and in January 2010 reached fourth at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, as well as the top 100 in the world rankings.
In July he participated in his first major, the Open Championship: during the qualifiers at Sunningdale he scored a score of 62, equaling Nick Faldo’s record. At the Open he passed the cut and finished 37th. His first professional victory came in 2012, when he overtook Ross Fisher at the Portugal Masters.
In 2014 he earned a second place in the BMW PGA Championship and a ninth place in the Open Championship, while in 2015 he returned to success, beating Bubba Watson by two hits at the Bridgestone Invitational of the World Golf Championships.
Since then he has also started playing on the PGA Tour. He came close to winning a major at the U.S. Open 2016: first with a three-stroke lead at the end of the penultimate lap, on the last lap he nevertheless made seven bogeys against a birdie and finished second tied with Jim Furyk and Scott Piercy, behind Dustin Johnson.
After two second places in the European Tour between 2017 and 2018, he won the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship 2019. In July, a highly prestigious victory at the Open Championship followed, where he won with a six-stroke lead over Tommy Fleetwood.
