Simon Graf, a journalist for the Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger, has raised the alarm about the current state of Roger Federer and has questioned the Swiss player’s presence in the next edition of the Laver Cup. According to reports from Graf, Federer suffered a new problem in his right knee due to a fluid spill.

The problem could have a strong impact on the rehabilitation path that the 20-time Slam champion is following with dedication. Important new information was provided by Tony Godsick, Federer’s longtime agent. In an exclusive interview with Blick.ch, Godsick explained: “Roger has been training for a few weeks and has been feeling pain in his knee.

Despite this, he keeps trying and has no intention of giving up anything. He is trying to prepare for the Laver Cup “Therefore, Federer’s agent did not confirm Federer’s alleged absence in London, but admitted that his client had been in pain during recent training sessions.

Federer played his last official match at Wimbledon 2021, but then had to give up the second half of the season to undergo further knee surgery. As planned, the Swiss will test himself at both the Laver Cup and the ATP 500 tournament in Basel.

However, everything will depend on the physical state of him. Meanwhile, the director of Swiss Indoors Basel said: ‘We know he is training, but only he can give some information about his status. We’ll see if his knee holds up in the Laver Cup.

He wants to play both tournaments”, concluded Roger Brennwald to Baz Sport. All tennis fans dream of seeing the Dream Team made up of Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in the Laver Cup.

Berrettini praises King Roger

Matteo Berrettini expressed his desire to have Roger Federer back on tour and play against him at least once again.

“The reason why I’m here now is Roger. He was my idol when I was growing up. I was cheering for him. So I want him back really badly,” he revealed. “I think (he) was great, is still great for tennis. He brought tennis to even, like, a higher level, just for the stuff he did on court, off court.

Like Serena, I guess, one of a kind, you know?” he added. “I wish him, like, really a speedy recovery, whatever he’s doing to come back. Yeah, I wish I could play like one more time against him,” he said.
