Rory McIlroy’s comments are insulting

Rory McIlroy has been firmly in the fight against LIV Golfers since the formation of the competition supported by Saudi Arabia. The Northern Irishman believes that LIV Golf is not the right thing and that LIV Golfers should not be part of the BMW PGA Championship.

“They shouldn’t be here, but again that’s just my opinion. But we are all going to tee it up on the 1st tee [Thursday] and we are all going to go play 72 holes, which is a novelty for them at this point, and then we’ll go from there”.

– he said, as quoted by mirror.

Patrick Reed: I’ve done more for this Tour than Billy has

Patrick Reed is not happy with McIlroy’s comments. He considers his comments offensive. Reed believes that his experience and presence on the DP World Tour give him the right to take a stand against such statements.

“I feel like [Rory] making those types of comments is insulting. Let’s be honest, I’ve [played the DP World Tour] more consistently than some of the Europeans on the PGA Tour, so for them to take shots at other guys, especially Billy and Rory taking shots at the LIV guys saying they shouldn’t be here.”

Reed is disappointed to see so much pressure and attack on LIV Golf considering how much individuals once meant to the tournament. However, it is unlikely that anyone will change their opinion, and most consider LIV Golfer’s moves to be hypocritical.

“I’ve done more for this Tour than Billy has and I’ve played almost as much as Rory has for the past five years.” Most of the LIV Golfers did not have such a good reception at Wentworth, but that does not worry them.

They are focused on their game and want to achieve success. We will see if they will successfully complete their adventure.
