HM Queen Elizabeth died at 96 year-old in the Scottish residence of Balmoral, her conditions had worsened in the past few hours. The official announcement came with a note from Buckingham Palace: “Her Majesty died peacefully this afternoon.
The King and Queen consort will stay at Balmoral tonight and return to London tomorrow.” Liz Truss, the new British Prime Minister, who spoke to the nation from Downing Street, said: “Queen Elizabeth’s death is a shock to the nation and to the whole world, she was a rock upon which the country was built.
A great era begins, God save the King! And let’s support him, now loyalty and devotion to Charles III.” Charles of Wales thus becomes HM the King Charles III. The new King, Charles III of the United Kingdom, said: “It is a moment of great sadness for me and for the whole family.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of a dear Sovereign and a much loved Mother. I know her loss. it will be deeply felt across the country, the Kingdoms and the Commponwealth. During this time of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and supported by our awareness of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely regarded.”
Family members had been notified in the afternoon. And they showed up at the Scottish residence. There was no Meghan and neither Kate remained in London.
The official coronation in the presence of the archbishop of Canterbury will actually take place a few months after the death of the sovereign and of course she will also change the national anthem which will no longer be God save the Queen but God save the King.
Even the royal coat of arms used for the missives will never be the same again.
Wimbledon pays homage to Queen Elizabeth’s death
The Queen was a great lover of sports. And of course for many years she was the one to reward the winners of Wimbledon, coming down from the Royal Box of the Center Court.
In a Tweet, the London Slam honored HM the Queen with a beautiful and moving message of condolence: “We wish to convey our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to The Royal Family on the sad passing of Her Majesty The Queen.”
