A golf course in New York managed by Donald Trump’s company will host a women’s tournament backed by Saudi Arabia in October, according to local media reports. The tournament is part of the Aramco Team Series, closely linked to the network of Saudi state-owned companies, as is LIV Golf, a similar initiative on the men’s circuit that seeks to rival the traditional PGA Tour.

According to The New York Times, the New York City Council -which is the owner of the golf course- has given the green light to the tournament considering that it had no basis to veto it under the contract it has with the Trump Organization, which is the one who manages it.

. The city of New York broke its contract with the Trump company after the assault on Capitol Hill in January 2021, but a judge later determined that it had done so irregularly, so the company remains in charge of the installation.

Another former president’s golf course, located in neighboring New Jersey, already hosted another tournament financed by Saudi Arabia this summer, in this case part of LIV Golf, which generated criticism for the Arab country’s human rights record.

Donald John Trump is an American politician, entrepreneur and TV personality, 45th president of the United States of America from 2017 to 2021. Born and raised in Queens, New York, the son of wealthy businessman Fred Trump, Trump attended Fordham University and, later, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated as a Bachelor of Economics in 1968.

1971 became CEO of his father’s company, Elizabeth Trump & Son, renaming it the Trump Organization; he expanded the company’s business, building skyscrapers (including the Trump Tower), numerous hotels (including the Trump International Hotel and Tower), casinos, golf courses and various other buildings.

Trump has founded several other companies and agencies, all affiliated with the Trump Organization, such as Trump Model Management and Trump Mortgage. Trump has been involved in over four thousand lawsuits, including six bankruptcies.

His brand management strategies and opulent lifestyle have helped make him a celebrity, whose fame has been enhanced by cameos in films and television series, appearances in various beauty pageants such as Miss Universe, Miss Teen USA and Miss USA (which he owned from 1996 to 2015), as well as the popularity of the television program The Apprentice, which he himself produced and conducted between 2004 and 2015.

With an estimated assets of 3.1 billion dollars, in 2018 was ranked 766th in the list of the richest people in the world compiled by Forbes, which in 2016 had indicated him as the second most powerful person in the world, behind Vladimir Putin, while in 2016 the weekly American Time chose him as Person of the Year.
