The ECB ‘suit’ told to ‘f*** off’ by Ben Stokes following England ’s World Cup win was reportedly current Yorkshire chairman Lord Patel.. Stokes makes the revelation in his soon to be released Amazon film ‘Ben Stokes: Phoenix From The Ashes’.
His comments came after the all-rounder revealed his anger with the ECB when being banned from joining England’s 2017/18 Ashes tour in Australia, following an altercation outside of a club in Bristol. Two years after his ban Stokes went on to star in England’s dramatic World Cup victory over New Zealand.
Following the win at Lords, one of the ECB’s ‘suits’ approached Stokes for a selfie in the celebrations leading the now Test captain to tell the chief – named as Patel – to ‘f*** off’ due to his past treatment, report the Daily Mail.
Speaking in the documentary, Stokes comments: “I was let down by a few people and a few of them wear a suit as well. It is still there and always will be. One person in particular asked me for a selfie. And it was someone who wears a suit and I turned round and told them to f*** off.
“If this person didn’t know how I felt about them. They did on the night of the World Cup final. The term ‘suit’ is just a generic term for an authority figure. Whoever I’m talking about, if they are watching, they will know who they are.”

The incident in Bristol saw Stokes charged with affray, before he was later acquitted. In an exclusive with Mirror Sport , the Test skipper has revealed that he will one day sit down with his children and discuss what happened that night. He said: “Bristol will always be a part of my life and always something I have to deal with.

“When my kids get older we are going to have to sit down with them and explain that whole situation and how it is a part of our life.I don’t know exactly what I’m going to say to them, but we’re going to have to do it soon, Layton is getting older and he’s asking questions.
“Someone will bring it up with him, maybe at school, so we will have to explain the whole thing so they are not blindsided by it. We need to help the kids cope with it. People might think that just because the trial ended that was the end of it, but it certainly wasn’t. That was just the end of that period and then there was a start of another situation for me. It is never the end of anything.”
