Here is what Novak Djokovic’s official site says about his schedule

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic currently has no scheduled tournaments, as per his own website. “There are no scheduled events at this moment,” reads on Djokovic’s official website.

Djokovic, 35, last played at Wimbledon, where he collected his 21st Grand Slam title. After winning his seventh Wimbledon title, Djokovic returned home.

Djokovic was hoping that he would get allowed to compete at the US Open but that scenario now seems highly unlikely. Djokovic hasn’t been vaccinated against COVID-19 and that’s why he wasn’t allowed to enter Canada for the Montreal Masters and the United States for the Cincinnati Masters.

Now, Djokovic is likely to miss out on the US Open because he can’t enter the country due to his vaccination status.

Djokovic set to miss out on the US Open

Djokovic has received lots of support over the last two months, even from American politicians.

Several US senators called out the rule that prevents Djokovic from entering the country but the Joe Biden administration didn’t make the change for which Djokovic was hoping for. Even Daniil Medvedev – the player who beat Djokovic in last year’s US Open final – expressed desire to see the Serb at Flushing Meadows this year.

“Yeah, for sure,” Medvedev answered. “I cannot do anything. It is the government who sets the rules, so I do not know if it can actually change or not. If you ask me, if I would be the decision-maker, sure I want Novak to play.

I like it when the tournament [has] the best players in the world”. After winning Wimbledon, Djokovic admitted he was unsure when he would play next. Earlier this year, Djokovic was denied participation at the Australian Open.

Now, it seems likely that Djokovic will miss out on two Grand Slams this season. The last time Djokovic missed the US Open was in 2017.
