“Serena Williams ruled despite who hated her”

As part of the Higher Learning podcast, Rachel Lindsay paid tribute to Serena Williams and wished her the best for the future, making interesting statements on the US star’s path to dominance in women’s tennis. Rachel said: “Nobody thought Serena Williams would dominate tennis.

Under the circumstances, it was a very unlikely eventuality. Tiger Woods has had a similar path to Serena’s. As for Michael Jordan, blacks are known to be formidable in basketball. Tom Brady has always been a predestined, as well as being a white.

I’m not discrediting what these legends have done, but Serena had it all against. In addition to having worked hard on the technique and the physique, she has had to contend with some aspects of modern society. Her parable is very instructive.

Every time she made a mistake, it was magnified beyond belief. Throughout her career, she has been criticized for her attitude, the way she wore her hair, her clothes, her physical appearance and so many other things. Despite people’s hatred, she went on her way and made sports history.”

Serena’s retirement

Through an article published in Vogue, Serena Williams announced her imminent retirement from tennis. The American legend has not indicated a precise date, but she has hinted that she will hang up the racket after the US Open 2022.

The former world number 1 will therefore put an end to an extraordinary career, which has made her a global icon and one of the greatest athletes ever. Barring a sensational backlash in New York, Serena won’t be able to match Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 majors.

Her last seal in her Grand Slam now dates back to the 2017 Australian Open, before she began her descent. The last two seasons have been a real ordeal for Williams, who were injured at Wimbledon last year. The 23-time Grand Slam champion returned to the London meadows in 2022, but she couldn’t make it past the first round.
