Anthony Joshua has earned a staggering £67million more than bitter rival Tyson Fury when comparing the pair’s last five fight purses.

Joshua will step into the ring in another mega-money bout tonight as he looks to avenge his defeat against Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia. It will be the second time Joshua has taken a fight to the Middle East as he continues to attract money and attention to his heavyweight shows.

‘AJ’ is expected to take home at least £33m from his latest exploit in the Middle East, with his purse expected to rise when the pay-per-views and gate revenue are confirmed. With his latest huge pay cheque increasing his net worth further, it will see him having earned a staggering £67m more than bitter rival Fury in his last five outings.

The British heavyweight began to earn mega-bucks for every fight getting a 25 per cent purse increase as he sold out Wembley Stadium for his successful mandatory defence against Alexander Povetkin. He then took his show on the road and made his American debut which attracted huge interest on both sides of the pond.

Despite suffering a hugely damaging first career defeat, Joshua earned £20m from the first fight against Andy Ruiz Jr who stepped in as a late replacement for Jarrell Miller. As Joshua sought his revenge, his fight was purchased by Saudi Arabia who staged the event in a new-build venue with fortunes pumped into the event.

It also saw Joshua successfully earn an incredible £66m after the total revenue was added, which represented a career-high payday and a huge expansion on his wealth. More recently Joshua defeated Kubrat Pulev in 2020 and earned a tidy £10m for the event which would have been significantly higher if the coronavirus pandemic was not ripping through the UK.

His first fight against Usyk saw him earn another mammoth £15m purse while fighting in the UK, before the rematch provides almost double the wealth for Joshua at over £30m. During this time Fury had made his comeback to boxing with Las Vegas clash against Tom Schwarz earning him around £10m.

Fury’s next outing came against Otto Wallin where he pocketed another £12m before he made a huge step-up to continue his rivalry with Deontay Wilder in a lucrative rematch. The fight earned him a tidy £21m for his world title victory before he then earned around £13m for the trilogy which was forced by arbitration court and saw him miss out on a £100m payday to face Joshua.

His most recent outing against Dillian Whyte saw him take home a huge £21.5m with the event selling out Wembley Stadium in a similar fashion to Joshua. Fury will likely to continue to earn well if he opts to leave his retirement with a mammoth payday expected if he decides to take on Joshua for the undisputed titles providing he beats Usyk tonight.
